Singapore, 12 June 2017 – More than 5,500 fans of top South Korean K-Pop boy band EXO were treated to double the excitement at the Asia Grand Finals of the first-ever Skechers Sweet Monster KPop Dance Competition, held on Saturday, 10 June 2017, at Causeway Point. Virus Ladies from Malaysia was crowned the champion of the dance competition by the three members of EXO, Suho, Chanyeol and Sehun onstage; winning themselves the champion trophy and cash worth of USD $3,000, while STARREseconds from Singapore and K-Boy from Thailand danced home with the first runner-up trophy and USD $2,000 cash and second runner-up trophy and USD $1,000 cash respectively.

With a total of six teams from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand battling it out, the Skechers Sweet Monster K-Pop Dance Competition Asia Grand Finals kept audiences up on their feet throughout the afternoon with top-notch dance routines from the teams. Virus Ladies emerged champion after an intense discussion amongst the judges, which included Singapore singer Derrick Hoh, Malaysian radio announcer and Youtuber Dennis Yin, professional Dance Instructors Jojo Hung and the founder of Asia's biggest Street Dance Festival Radikal Forze Jam, Felix Huang, who gave each team invaluable feedback after their performance. Derrick Hoh also gave a sterling performance of his English single "Forever", much to the adoration of fans. Games were played during intervals, with participating KPop fans winning prizes of up to $50 in value as a reward for their enthusiasm.

When the emcee, Mediacorp Radio 987 deejay Sonia Chew, announced the arrival of EXO members Suho, Chanyeol and Sehun, the atrium of Causeway Point went into a frenzy as fans (some who started queueing since 12.30am) started to scream and clap for their favourite idols. Known for their superior dance abilities, the dashing boys greeted their fans to deafening cheers of excitement as they shared about themselves as well as their favourite footwear, Skechers D'Lites 2 Sweet Monster. "It fits our style very well, so we wear it out quite often", said Chanyeol.

"The Skechers Sweet Monster K-pop Dance Competition was exhilarating. It was tough picking a winner as they were all fantastic, but eventually Virus Ladies emerged victorious with their creative choreography, which was a heavy component of the judging criteria. It was also heartwarming to see EXO members, Sehun, Chanyeol and Suho, award prizes and words of encouragement to the teams", said Vincent Leung, President of Skechers Southeast Asia, who was also part of the judging panel.

Amongst the crowd that swarmed every floor of Causeway Point, notable personalities spotted in the VIP area included Miss Universe Singapore 2016 winner Cheryl Chou and fellow finalist Patricia Eng, Mediacorp Radio YES 933 FM deejay Kun Hua, international model Andee Chua, actor Jasper Lai and actresses Jazliyana Lee and Valerie Choo, as well as popular Youtube influencer Joanna Lim.
