AlphaBAT, The Next Potentially Hit Idol Group!

The concourse area of Summit USJ was filled with fans and people from all walks of life, filling up every levels of the mall to catch South Korean rookie idol group, AlphaBAT for their 1st Showcase in Malaysia on 27th April 2014. Formed by Simtong Entertainment, AlphaBAT consists of 9 members; B:eta, C:ode, D:elta, E:psilon, F:ie, G:amma, H:eta, I:ota & J:eta. If you have not noticed, the members’ names start with letters from A to J! If you are wondering why the letter ‘A’ is not listed, it is because ‘A’ stands for Alpha for the fans.

A day before the showcase in Kuala Lumpur was held, AlphaBAT performed for a showcase in Johor Bahru which witnessed numerous fans who came all the way from Singapore to catch the boys in live. As the KL showcase kicked off at 3.10PM, Malaysia’s very own dance group, Bubble Candies performed an energetic cover of Global Icon (G.I)’s ‘ㄱ’ (Giyeok), followed by an audition that was conducted to search for the eligible 10th member of AlphaBAT! You heard that! We are finally be able to see our homegrown talent in a South Korean idol group! Isaac who came all the way from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah stood out the most as this well-dressed and talented lad performed a Chinese song and a self-choreographed dance to the beat of GOT7’s ‘Girls Girls Girls’ and EXO’s ‘Overdose’ which received thunderous applause from the audience!

Fans screamed as AlphaBAT appeared on the stage, performing TVXQ’s ‘Love In The Ice‘, followed by their own track, “Always”, written by all members of AlphaBAT for their fans. “Who is the best? AlphaBAT! Hello, we are AlphaBAT”. The word “AlphaBAT” echoed the concourse area of Summit USJ as the anticipated fans said it together out loud! The members then introduced themselves.

It was the game session time where 9 lucky fans, selected by the members themselves, were able to get up-close with their favourite members and personal interactions. Divided into 3 groups, AlphaBAT members and their partners had to pass rubber band using only straws. I:ota/E:psilon/J:eta group won as they collected the most rubber bands. Fans with the winner group walked away with an autographed AlphaBAT mini album while the others received handmade soaps each, ended with a group photo in whole. The boy brought up heat to the stage as they performed a well-known song from INFINITE, ‘Nothing’s Over’ and their own rendition of BEAST’s ‘Fiction’. Leader, B:eta surprised the audience with his sudden jump from the stage!

Next up, Bubble Candies showcased their splendid moves to the beat of AlphaBAT’s title track from their 1st mini album ‘Attention’, “딴따라 (Ttantara)”. The lads then joined the lovely kids performing to the same song on the stage, showcasing their sharp choreography and synchronization! The members then performed their debut single, “AB City”, followed by the last performance of “딴따라 (Ttantara)”. Fans totally went crazy went these handsome lads jumped off the stage and perform up-close! We were definitely impressed with their full & flawless choreography though they did not perform with their batons this time *thumbs up*.

Malaysian Alphas [AlphaBAT’s fans are called as Alpha(s)] then came up with a surprise birthday celebration on stage for B:eta, G:amma & H:eta! The showcase was ended up with a photo session for lucky winners as well as an autograph session for those who bought the albums on site. The 9-member group gave out a bunch of ‘fanservices’ [a term for idols fulfilling fans’ request(s)] to their fans throughout the autograph session where we could witnessed the fans hugged with the members as well as locking hands! AlphaBAT once again thanked the audience for coming to their first showcase in Malaysia before they wrapped up the event in whole.
